John and Sue's Kitchen Extension Transformation
We kept revisiting the budget tracker before and after every expenditure. We made as many decisions as possible early in the project. And if we went over budget in one area we were prepared to cut back in another.
Renovations; they test you like no other life project, but when the dust has settled (and been hoovered up!) there's nothing more satisfying than reflecting on your successes whilst sat down in the comfort of your shiny new house - with an obligatory glass of bubbly.
Today we're shining a light on some of the stunning student renovations from inside our community - they deserve everything they've achieved.
Our student Anna completed her cottage renovation with a seriously well managed budget
Exciting developments happening in our community!
Anna's Cornwall Cottage Renovation
Things moved a lot more quickly when I was down there and able to speak to the tradesmen face to face. I scheduled regular visits, in which I’d cram as much into as I could, then leave them to the main bulk of the work when I/we were gone.
Deb's 1950s House Extension
My biggest tip is to live in the house for a few months before making any big decisions! We realised that some of the things we thought were essential were not.
"A really great course and an absolute bargain given the savings we'll make over the long run as a result. We wish we'd accessed the course earlier as we might have been able to save on architect fees by following the Layout module."
Nick Ritchie
"It's the best money I've spent on our renovation."
Tim Rudd
Terraced house renovation
“It helped us feel more prepared for our renovation before completing on the house. I love the Reno Club and can't wait to share more when we finally get the keys!”
Yasmin Deakin
1930s semi-detached renovation
“It helped us figure out what was the best order to do things, and the planners helped to facilitate the right questions about budget and priorities. In terms of the Reno Club, the ideas shared possibly saved us £1000’s”
“Budgeting from the start has helped me to prioritise what work to do first. I had a lot of ideas but the course has really helped me to think far more about the details. It made everything so much clearer.”

“I wasn't sure if I could justify spending money on the course but it has really helped me get to grips with what I can afford and which areas I can reduce costs”

1930s detached renovation
"We actually called off our plasterer
after we started the course because
there was so much we hadn't considered"

This course was so helpful & informative that all of a sudden I felt I knew exactly what I need to do. So from being overwhelmed I got really excited!

My advice would be not to worry too much about how things look, it should be about how it makes you feel.
